Calm, tradition & comfort: thirty minutes from Hirson, and 45 minutes from Laon and Saint-Quentin, in the heart of the Thiérache region (Aisne), the gite of the Maison Forestière de la Cailleuse is awaiting your arrival in a 230 hectare forest considered as one of Picardy’s finest. The gite is located in the center of the Thiérache, a region of hedgerows and breeding, birthplace of the famous Maroilles cheese, and possessing a remarkable historical heritage: fortified churches, the fortified castle of Guise, Jean-Baptiste André Godin’s familistère (a remarkable social compound for workers and their families), the La Capelle racetrack… The house, a former hunting lodge, has four bedrooms which can house 8 guests (or 12 with extra beds). Guided tours of the forest and its numerous hiking paths are available. Activities and commodities are available in the surrounding area: shops (5 km), state forest (forêt domaniale, 3 km), swimming pool (18 km), fishing (10 km), tennis courts (40 km), horse riding (30 km), golf course (40 km), train station (38 km), numerous museums and hiking paths, etc.
